Breathwork can be a powerful tool to help you tap into your emotional and spiritual self. However, it is not intended to be an all-encompassing solution for everything you might be dealing with. You may require additional resources to support your holistic wellness.

Please be aware that Kate Baker is a breathwork facilitator. She is not a licensed medical professional. Kate is not qualified to diagnose or treat health conditions.

During breathwork, it is common to experience strong emotional releases. In some cases, this could be overwhelming and may result in emotional distress. For this reason, please practice discernment when deciding whether or not breathwork is right for you. If you are unsure, consider consulting a therapist, counselor, or other trusted source.

You may also experience sensations of energy moving through your body, temperature changes, tingling or tightness (especially in your hands), numbness in your limbs, or cramping. These side effects typically occur during the active breath and fade once you begin breathing normally. However, it is possible for serious side effects to occur. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure about how your body may react to breathwork.

Breathwork is not recommended for people with any of the following medical conditions: The first term of pregnancy (unless you have discussed it with a medical doctor); Epilepsy; Retinal detachment; Glaucoma; High blood pressure not controlled by medication; Cardiovascular disease; Family history of aneurysm; Strokes and neurological conditions; Severe osteoporosis; A breathwork practice can cause strong physical sensations and/or emotional releases. In rare cases, strong emotional releases have been known to cause amnesia. Please note: this is not a complete list of contraindicated conditions.
